To imagine that more than eighteen thousand people lost their lives or went missing in the Great East Japan earthquake is difficult to grasp.
We have always felt deeply for the 1,808 children who lost one or both of their parents on that day.
Determined not to forget, we are gathering in Hong Kong again on Sunday March 13, 2016 to commemorate. Please take the little time it takes out of your day to join us.
In 2013 we received wonderful support from architect Tadao Ando, and in 2014 the selfless help from the world's top ultra marathon elite. We couldn't be more grateful.
As per tradition, we are gathering in Repulse Bay (click for Google Street View) on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 14h30 at the bottom of the stairs leading up from HK International School Upper primary section on South Bay Close (see map). Like last year, we aim to climb to the top of the Twins (Ma Kong Shan - 孖崗山). (Note: For those who find the stair climb too challenging, you may take the easier flat course along the catchwater to Stanley).
Donations of any size are welcome, even tiny, and especially from children! This year, we have chosen to give the donations to the Hatachi Fund who helps children until they reach the age of 20.
If you are not able to join us on March 13, you can still donate directly by money transfer. Please send us a note afterwards so we can consolidate the names and comments here on this site.

あの日からもうすぐ5年。あの日を思い出すと未だに深い悲しみに包まれます。
2011年3月11日、巨大地震が発生、大津波が東北、北関東の沿岸を襲いました。失わわれた命は２万人近く、そして2000名近い児童が震災孤児となりました。
今年も、震災殉難者の鎮魂を祈り、被災された方々に寄り添いたいと思います。
Step2000は集まった寄付金を、第一回目から被災した子どもたちを支援する団体へ寄附してきました。今年は、東日本大震災発生時に0歳だった赤ちゃんが無事にハタチを迎えるその日まで支援活動を継続する『ハタチ基金』へ送金したいと思います。
今年のStep2000は3月13日午後2時30分、例年通り、レパルスベイにある香港インターナショナルスクールアッパー小学部（ South Bay Close, Repulse Bay)から少し山側のツイン山（孖崗山）に続く階段前に午後2時30分集合です。（注：ツイン山の階段がきついと思われる方には、平坦な易しい階段回避コースを用意しています。）
